Man jailed after attack on prison officer
Norfolk PoliceA man has been jailed for attacking a female prison officer after she finished her shift.
The attack happened outside the gates of HMP Norwich in Knox Road on 30 November and the victim was taken to hospital.
Sam Morrison, 26, of Recorder Road, Norwich, was sentenced at Norwich Crown Court on Tuesday for assault occasioning grievous bodily harm with intent.
He was told he would serve six years in custody and another four years on licence.
Steven Searby, of the Prison Officers' Association, said at the time that staff were shocked by the attack.
"I can't remember in my 30 years this happening to a member of staff," he said.
Morison was also convicted of causing criminal damage after damaging the window of the car belonging to the victim - but faced no separate penalty.
