Two men have appeared in court charged with murder after a crash involving a BMW and a motorbike last week.

Emergency services were called to the incident in Aberthaw Road, Newport, in the early hours of Thursday.

Jaydon Bowyer, 19, and Tashay Canoville, 16, the driver and pillion passenger of the motorbike, were pronounced dead at the scene.

On Monday, Terell Case, 18, of Sandpiper Way, Duffryn, Newport, and Joshua Williams, 34, of no fixed abode, appeared at Newport Magistrates' Court charged with murder.

They will both appear at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday.

Members of Bowyer and Canoville's families were in court for the hearing.

Floral tributes left at the side of the road near the incident.
Gwent Police said the families of 19-year-old Jaydon Bowyer and 16-year-old Tashay Canoville are being supported by specialist officers

Det Supt Steven Maloney said: "Both Jaydon and Tashay's families are being supported by specialist officers and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.

"We would like to thank the community for their support while we continue to investigate fully the circumstances of these tragic deaths."

He said residents would likely see an increased number of officers in the area in the coming days as investigations continue.

Police confirmed two women aged 24 and 40 from Newport who had earlier been arrested on suspicion of murder have been released without charge.
