A teenager has died and three men have been arrested after a crash in West Yorkshire.

Three vehicles are believed to have been involved in the crash on Wednesday night in Holmfirth. A 19-year-old man suffered serious head injuries and later died in hospital.

The drivers of the vehicles, all 19-year-old men, were arrested after the crash at about 22:10 GMT on Sheffield Road, Jackson Bridge, and later released on bail.

West Yorkshire Police said it believed the silver Skoda Fabia, in which the deceased man was a passenger, left the road and struck a wall.

It was travelling in convoy from Langsett Reservoir to Holmfirth with a white Skoda Fabia and a blue BMW at the time of the collision, the force added.

The Skoda drivers were arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving while over the prescribed limit of drugs and causing serious injury through dangerous driving.

The driver of the BMW was held on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving. All of the men were later released on bail.

Police appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicles before the crash to contact them.
