Section of TT course closed for tree felling
GoogleA daytime closure on a section of the Isle of Man TT course has been put in place to allow "dangerous roadside trees" to be felled.
The closure - on Saturday, and again on Sunday if needed - apply to a section of the A1 road between Peel and Douglas.
The closure on Main Road in Union Mills stretches from just beyond Strang Road to Trollaby Lane between 09:00 and 17:00 GMT., with diversions in place for all traffic including buses.
The infrastructure department said the works were being carried out by a private contractor on behalf of a landowner and had been authorised for the weekend to minimise disruption to commuter, school and commercial traffic in the area during the working week.
Diversions have been put in place at Braddan Bridge and in Glen Vine for those travelling between Douglas and the west of the island during the works.
Bus Vannin said its services would be diverted onto the Cooil Road and the Glen Darragh Road, with services unable to serve Ballagarey, Union Mills, Strang or Nobles Hospital as a result.
The road is set to reopen on Saturday ahead of the first route of the annual Isle of Man Young Farmers Christmas Tractor Run, which is expected to travel along the road at about 20:30 on its way to the TT grandstand in Douglas.
