A lorry driver was arrested on suspicion of an immigration offence after 14 people got out of his vehicle on an industrial estate.

Police said they were called to Houndmills Road in Basingstoke, Hampshire, after a report that nine men and five women, aged between 18 and 34, left the lorry at about 11:00 GMT on Monday. They were also arrested.

The lorry driver, a 48-year-old man, has since been released on bail.

The 14 men and women are being dealt with by Immigration Enforcement, a Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said.
