Maeve and Oakley met on the school run

Two golden retrievers from East Sussex have found fur-ever love after meeting on the school run.

Puppyhood sweethearts Maeve and Oakley tied the knot at a wedding ceremony in Berwick on Tuesday.

The happy couple - proud parents of six puppies - sealed the deal with a slobbery kiss, tucked into some dog treats and then enjoyed a performance of the song Puppy Love.

Maeve's owner Hannah Brown told the BBC she organised the event with her friend Stuart, who owns Oakley, as a "bit of fun" - and also to raise money for the Dogs Trust charity.

Brown said the world was "not the best place" at the moment.

"I think it's just nice to spread some love and positivity - something more exciting than normal boring news," she added.

"Life is too short."

Brown, an influencer from Eastbourne, said the pups met at the school that both her and Stuart's children attend.

It was love at first bark.

"We're good friends with [Oakley's] family," she told the BBC. "We've gone on lots of holidays together.

"It's a lovely little love story."

Guests said it was im-paw-sible not to cry at the ceremony

The ceremony, which guests said was im-paw-sible not to cry at, raised money for the Dogs Trust charity.

"We are aware of the upcoming nuptials between Maeve and Oakley," said the Dogs Trust before the ceremony.

"We wish the happy couple all the best for the future."

Sixty guests were invited to the ceremony at Alfriston Gardens, along with Maeve and Oakley's pups Mabel, Margot, Nelly, Benji, Albert and Teddy.
