A 70-year-old man is being questioned by police after a girl was sexually assaulted on a bus.

Police said they responded to an incident on a bus travelling from Crewe to Congleton, shortly before 18:00 BST on Monday.

The suspect was detained in the Market Street area of Congleton within 20 minutes of the call and remained in custody, said Cheshire Police, adding that officers believed the incident to be isolated.

The 17-year-old girl was being given support, stated the force which has appealed for witnesses.
