A family run supermarket in Shropshire will be sold after almost 80 years.

The owners of Stan's Superstore in St Martins, Oswestry, have announced the upcoming sale of their business.

Stan Faulks founded the business, which was originally a fish and chip shop, turning it into a store for the local community in 1947.

The shop, which has stayed in the family for generations, was extended into a superstore in 1991.

Current owners Peter and Robert Faulks confirmed that the store will continue to operate as normal during the sale.

A statement posted on Facebook said: "The family has proudly run Stans for generations, growing the business from a small shop into the much-loved superstore it is today.

"Contracts were exchanged last Friday afternoon and a full statement will be given on completion which is expected to be at the end of March."
