E-scooter rider seriously injured in hit-and-run

An e-scooter rider is in hospital with serious injuries following a hit-and-run collision with a car.

Emergency services were called to St Paul's Road, near the junction for Folly Lane, in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, at about 23:00 GMT on Saturday.

Officers said the driver of the white vehicle - which is believed to have sustained front-end damage - had left the scene. The man riding the e-scooter was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for treatment.

Police asked motorists to find alternative routes while road closures remain in place at the scene for investigation work. Anybody with information about the collision is asked to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary.
