Police appeal after man injured in shooting

The incident happened on Friday night in Herringthorpe, South Yorkshire Police says

A man has been left injured following a shooting at a home in Rotherham.

The incident happened at about 21:00 GMT on Friday at a property on Goldsmith Drive in the Herringthorpe area, South Yorkshire Police said.

A man later attended hospital with gunshot injuries described as neither life-threatening or life-changing.

A police scene remained in place on the street on Saturday as the investigation continued.

Anyone with information about the shooting has been asked to come forward.

Det Ch Insp Emma Knight said: "Criminals who carry and fire illegal weapons are putting members of the public at risk of serious harm.

"Gun crime has absolutely no place in South Yorkshire and while we continue to work relentlessly to put a stop to it, we cannot do so without your help and cooperation."
