A 69-year-old man who died after being hit by a car has been described as having a "heart as pure as gold" by his family in a tribute.

Andrew Naylor was fatally injured when he was hit by a white Audi A3 on Ovenden Way, at the junction with Athol Gardens, in Halifax on Saturday morning.

In a statement, his family said: "Andrew was the heart of our family and loved so much by each and every one of us. He had a heart as pure as gold and always had the biggest smile for anyone and everyone."

The driver of the Audi, a 30-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving, has been released on police bail, West Yorkshire Police said.

A force spokesperson appealed for witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident, to get in touch.
