A group of guinea pigs spotted roaming Jersey's north coast have still not been claimed after being taken in by a local animal shelter.

A number of guinea pigs were brought in by JSPCA, after they were found by members of the public on Tuesday morning, it is unknown how they got there.

The charity said that there are two male guinea pigs and five female, with two of them being adults and the other five babies.

It added that no one has come forward to claim them yet.

Six guinea pigs were originally reported on the north coast

On Tuesday, head of service delivery Katie Kay said the team responded immediately and it was a sight staff described as "highly unusual".

The team spent most of the day searching near Devil's Hole where six guinea pigs had first been reported.

They are now being cared for at the charity's animal shelter by JSPCA staff.
