Stop-and-search powers after two shot dead
Family / West Midlands PolicePowers allowing police to stop and search people without the need to have reasonable grounds will again be in place later, after two men were killed in a shooting in Wolverhampton.
Duaine Mills, 28, was killed when shots were fired on Leicester Street in Whitmore Reans at about 03:10 BST on 19 September and Syed Zain Ali, 32, who was injured, died in hospital on Wednesday.
Section 60 powers were introduced in parts of the Whitmore Reans and Low Hill areas on Thursday evening and overnight and West Midlands Police said they would continue to be in place from 18:00 on Friday until 02:00 on Saturday.
The force said its main focus was on "keeping everyone safe".
Police added that they continued to have an increased presence in the area to offer reassurance to the local community.
They have again appealed for anyone with information on hre attack or with footage that could help the inquiry to come forward.
Mr Mills was pronounced dead at the scene, while Mr Ali died surrounded by family on Wednesday evening, officers said.
