Builders leave brick pile on road for weeks

A pile of bricks dumped by a building contractor on a road are to be removed by a council.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, residents said the rubble was left on Sherburn Street in Cleethorpes in early July.

One person said vehicles had been forced to drive round the mound.

North East Lincolnshire Council said it would remove the waste and pursue the company involved for the costs.

A council spokesperson said the authority believed it knew who was responsible for dumping the bricks.

"Whilst it is an offence under the Highways Act to store materials on the highway without prior approval, a decision was made to allow the builders to remove their material from the highway within a reasonable period of time," the spokesperson said.

“In light of recent information and the knowledge that the rubble is still there, the council are seeking a resolution and will have the material removed as soon as possible.”
