Police are hunting for a suspected arsonist after a car fire spread and set light to a family home.

Emergency services were called to a house in Oldbury Court Road, Fishponds, north Bristol, at about 03:20 BST on Saturday.

Three young children were in the property at the time, Avon and Somerset Police said, although all occupants escaped unharmed.

The house is now completely uninhabitable, officers said, and both fire and crime scene investigators are carrying out inquiries in the area.

Det Sgt Jeremy Cowburn said: "There were three young children in the house at the time of the fire.

"It doesn't bear thinking about what could have happened, but thankfully everyone is safe, although the family home is uninhabitable."

Anyone with any information or relevant doorbell or dashcam footage is asked to contact police.
