Grandad who died in crash 'taken too soon'
Staffordshire PoliceThe relatives of a man who died in a crash in Stoke-on-Trent said he was "always there for his family".
Officers were called to Meigh Street in Hanley shortly before 11:30 GMT on Saturday to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and a red Seat Leon.
Barry Mumford, 80, from Werrington, Staffordshire, died in hospital from his injuries, police said.
His family said they were devastated by his loss and urged anyone with details of what happened to come forward.
Mumford's relatives added that he was a "much-loved dad, grandad, and brother," adding that he had been "taken from us far too soon".
"He was young at heart, active, independent, and always there for his family," they said.
His family continued to be supported by specialist officers, Staffordshire Police said, adding that the driver of the Seat continued to help investigators with their investigation.
