Man charged with murder of 23-year-old woman

A man has been charged with murder after the body of a 23-year-old woman was discovered at a house.

Jon Ismaili, 33, of School Lane in Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire, was charged with the murder of Catalina Birlea, whose body was discovered at a property on Chesterton Road in Cambridge on 2 October.

Cambridgeshire Police said a post-mortem had taken place and a cause of death would be confirmed after more tests were complete.

Mr Ismaili was due to appear at Huntingdon Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Police were called by the ambulance service at about 00:50 BST after reports of the sudden death of a woman in her 20s.

The force asked anyone with information to contact them on 101 quoting Op Solarium.

A 29-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of murder, was released on bail until 2 January.
