Northern Gas NetworksA road will close for up to three weeks to allow for essential gas maintenance work.
Northern Gas Networks said it was needed to replace "ageing metal pipework" in Pocklington, East Yorkshire, with more durable plastic pipes.
The energy company said work would begin on Monday 13 October and last until the end of the month, with access for businesses and residents maintained where possible.
A road closure will be in place on The Mile between the roundabout with Garths End and Maxwell Road, and the junction of Kirkland Street, before work moves to Maxwell Road, where temporary traffic lights will be in place.
Mark Mawhood, operations manager, said: "We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these essential works.
"It's vital we complete them to continue to maintain a safe and reliable gas supply to the residents of Pocklington."
