A singer, who recently starred in Netflix's Simon Cowell: The Next Act, said he was "buzzing" to join the cast of Hollyoaks.

Sam Meyer will be completing the new family unit on the popular Channel 4 soap alongside former Emmerdale actor Matthew Wolfenden, and Rebecca Ryan and Lewis Walton, who have both starred in Coronation Street.

The Keanes are set to move into the Chester village this Spring with a hidden connection to another Hollyoaks family.

Meyer, who narrowly missed out on the chance to join the band December 10 on the Netflix show, said: "I am absolutely buzzing to say that I am joining the cast of Hollyoaks."

"He's a cool kid with a lot of golden retriever-like energy," he said.

"He loves his fashion and he's quite smart for his age."

Meyer recently featured on Netflix's Simon Cowell: The Next Act and was the final contestant before the formation of the band December 10.

Wolfenden, best known for playing David Metcalfe in Emmerdale said it was an "absolute privilege to step into this world and be part of something so iconic".

"From the moment I read the scripts, I knew this was going to be something special.

"I can't wait for the audience to meet them and see how they turn a few heads along the way."
