The road closure to allow upgrades near Kettering General Hospital should take 15 days

A road will close for more than two weeks to allow for upgrades near a hospital to be carried out.

Lower Street in Kettering, Northamptonshire, will shut between Railway View and Carlton Street from Saturday until 12 April for works linked to Kettering General Hospital.

The project will install new underground electrical cables to support future hospital improvements, including better maternity services.

"We understand this may cause some disruption," said a spokesperson from the contractor HVSS.

"But these works are essential to deliver important infrastructure improvements that will benefit the local community and support the future of healthcare services in Kettering."

The road will be closed at all times during this period, including over the Easter weekend.

A signed diversion route will be in place for all vehicles, including buses and lorries.

Access to the hospital will still be available using the diversion routes and bus services will continue, with temporary stops if needed.

Drivers are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys.
