Slice of Highland skiing history goes up for sale
Glencoe Mountain ResortA sale with a difference will take place this weekend - offering buyers the chance to own a little bit of Highland skiing history.
Chairs from Glencoe Mountain Resort's former access chairlift are available on a first come, first served basis on Sunday.
Despite an earlier plan to auction the chairs, which date back to 1990, the decision was made to sell them for £300 each.
Organisers said there had already been huge interest, with people set to travel from across the UK.
All money raised is going towards the £200,000 refurbishment and upgrading of the lift.
Andy Meldrum, who is managing director at Glencoe Mountain Resort, said people had already told him they planned to use the chairs for all sorts of things, including swings and seats in both homes and businesses.
He added: "We have someone driving up from Wales to try and pick one up.
"I think the provenance of the fact that Glencoe is the original, oldest ski area in Scotland - 1956 - people remember and have experience of sitting in the chair and going up with family or going up for a great day's skiing.
"They actually mean something to people more than the metal and the seat that they actually are.
"They hold a lot of memories."
