Three private rowing boats have been "severely damaged" in a suspected arson attack, the fire service says.

Firefighters from Teignmouth and Dawlish Fire Station were called to the blaze in Dawlish at about 03:30 GMT on Friday, in an area called Boat Cove.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said the boats were in a storage yard on Marine Parade. Dawlish Fire Station said a fourth boat was "slightly damaged" by the heat.

"The cause of the fire is believed to have been deliberate," it said. Devon and Cornwall Police said it was making inquiries and has asked witnesses to get in touch with them.
