A prisoner charged with murder after an inmate was found dead in his cell has appeared before court.

Jonathan Alcide, 26, of HMP Stoke Heath, spoke only to confirm his name via video link on Tuesday at Lincoln Crown Court.

A man in his 40s was found dead at HMP Stoke Heath, near Market Drayton, at about 07:40 BST on 1 July.

He did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody. He is due to go on trial at Stafford Crown Court on 24 November.
