'My family could have died in pothole crash'
Andrew McQueenA driver says the front wheel of his Aston Martin was "ripped off" after hitting a pothole, which stopped his brakes working and "could have killed" his family.
Andrew McQueen from Tetbury in Gloucestershire was returning from a trip to Peppa Pig World with his 10-year-old daughter when he hit a pothole on the A346 outside Marlborough, Wiltshire.
He said: "I did about 40 mph (64 km/h) in traffic when all of a sudden [there was] a massive bang. The front wheel was literally ripped out of the passenger side, we zigzagged across the road with noise and sparks and smoke [before] coming to a halt."
Wiltshire Council leaders have confirmed they will carry emergency repair works in the area.
Andrew McQueenHe added that his family could have died in the incident and now his dream car "looks like a write-off".
He said he was "disgusted" with the state of the key A-road and has called on the council to complete urgent repairs.
"This could have been very serious, not just to me but to a lot of people out there," McQueen said.
Since he was a child, McQueen had always wanted to buy an Aston Martin and said he eventually was able to purchase one with a backseat so his daughter could travel with him.
"We had some fantastic memories in it," he added.
Martin Smith, cabinet member for highways at Wiltshire Council, said: "I am very sorry to hear about this incident which has not been reported to Wiltshire Council.
"We are aware of the condition of the A346 and will be carrying out emergency repair works in the area where this incident occurred."
