Police said the incident happened on Eastgate Street in Gloucester

A man with a fractured skull and a bleed on his brain cannot remember how he sustained his injuries, police say.

Gloucestershire Police is appealing for information after an incident in Eastgate Street, Gloucester, on 22 January at 03:30 GMT.

"The injuries are consistent with a possible assault; however, the victim has been unable to remember what happened to him and officers are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward," a spokesperson for the force said.

The man, who is in his 40s, also suffered a fractured jaw and was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for treatment.

Officers reviewed CCTV in the city centre and think the man was injured between The Cross and Primark, they said.

The force asked for anyone who had not yet spoken to police to get in touch.
