School shut after suspected carbon monoxide leak
Steve Hubbard / BBCThree people, including two children, have been taken to hospital for checks after a suspected carbon monoxide leak at a primary school.
The emergency services were called to Martins Wood Primary School in Mildmay Road, Stevenage, Hertfordshire, just after 13:00 BST on Wednesday.
The East of England Ambulance Service (EEAS) said they attended the school after reports of children and adults becoming unwell. A total of 15 patients – six adults and nine children - were treated at the scene.
On its social media account, Martins Wood Primary School confirmed the incident was being investigated and said all children at the school were safe.
'Fault isolated'
A spokesperson for the EEAS said: "We have given advice to parents on what they should do if their child feels unwell later.
"If parents have any concerns about their children’s condition following today’s incident, please call 111."
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service has also been carrying out checks on the site but believe crews have isolated the fault.
Hertfordshire Police confirmed that Mildmay Road and Derby Way were closed just after 14:00 to allow emergency access, with restrictions lifted at 16:16.
