Winnie is a calico with "catitude", the rescue charity has said

A loving but understanding home is being sought for a cat that does not fit within the "cute kitty" mould and "is not here for your cuddles or your nonsense".

Staff at Peterborough Cat Rescue admit that Winnie, nicknamed Her Royal Highness Lady Winnie of Sassington, is not your typical feline.

The six-year-old calico cat arrived after a change in her family's circumstances.

"She's not for the faint-hearted, but if you've got experience, patience, and a good sense of humour, she will absolutely make you laugh - and occasionally question your life choices," the charity said.

Winnie has become slightly more tame while with a fosterer, the charity says

Writing about the cat on Facebook, staff said Winnie made a "dramatic entrance", adding: "Picture a tiny, furious cloud with whiskers and opinions and you're about halfway there."

Winnie is currently with a fosterer and the charity said that "with time, patience, and some respectful negotiations, Winnie has upgraded from 'spicy tornado' to 'mildly contained chaos'."

The rescue centre said, on a positive note, Winnie was not fussy about fancy food.

But the charity continued: "Now, let's be clear, Winnie is not here for your cuddles, your nonsense, or your attempts at just picking her up quickly - handling Winnie without permission is a bold move."

Winnie is neutered, chipped and vaccinated, a spokesperson said.
