Does coffee make you sober?

Having a cup of coffee or some other caffeinated drink when you are drunk can counter some of the effects of alcohol, but not the ones that really matter.

Alcohol and caffeine often go together: from the caffeine-laden ‘bomb’ cocktails, to a cup of coffee after a lunch with wine.
