Beyonce launches Hurricane Harvey fundraising plans

Beyonce is working with Texas-based charities to help raise funds for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

A page on her official website explains how her BeyGOOD Foundation is working with Bread of Life and Greater Houston Community Foundation to help people affected by the storm.

The post explains how the organisations "have been working from the start of Hurricane Harvey's landfall."

Dozens of people have been killed by the extreme weather in eastern Texas.

The announcement follows the singer, who is from Houston, saying she was committed to working with her team to "implement a plan to help as many as we can" earlier this week.

The singer, who is from Houston, encouraged fans to give what they can to the initiative, on Facebook she wrote: "Your donations will help with the immediate needs and rebuilding efforts of my city."

Money raised will be put towards "long-term revitalisation" as well as buying various supplies for the victims including cots, blankets, wheelchairs as well as feminine and baby products.

Beyonce's sister Solange has also announced plans to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

She'll be performing a benefit show with the Sun Ra Arkestra on 28 September at Boston's Orpheum Theatre for a performance called Orion's Rise.

"I'm committed to partnering with organisations on the ground in Houston and making contributions to uplift the city that raised me with so much love," she wrote in a statement on Instagram.

Other celebrities to have contributed to the relief efforts include Miley Cyrus, Leonardo DiCaprio, The Kardashians, and Jamie Foxx who will also be holding a telethon.
