The organisers of Y Not Festival in Derbyshire say the event will be back next year.

The final day on Sunday was called off because of bad weather.

Organiser Jon Drape told Newsbeat they did "absolutely everything" to keep it going but the safety of customers, staff and artists "must come first".

The Vaccines, Two Door Cinema Club and Happy Mondays are among the acts who had to call off their sets because of the bad weather and mud.

Organisers said in a statement: "We're used to conditions changing but unfortunately what happened this weekend was a perfect storm.

"We'll be going through a full debrief process and reviewing exactly what happened."

Some festival-goers have been critical of what they said was a lack of preparation.

But organisers told Newsbeat they're confident they had the right number of staff for the event.

"The feedback we've had from a large proportion of the customers has been very supportive," said Jon Drape.

"They completely understand what we were up against in terms of the conditions on site and we're feeling quite a lot of love for the festival.

"The whole team on it [Y Not] is committed to delivering a festival next year and we'll be back in 2018."

Mr Drape also tried to re-assure customers about refunds.

"We're currently in discussions with our insurers," he said.

"The festival is insured for cancellation and abandonment and we'll make an announcement in the coming days regarding refunds."
