Check tides call after spate of Jersey strandings
Jersey Fire and RescueVisitors and islanders are being urged to check tides before heading to the beach after a series of strandings.
Thirteen people have been rescued from Elizabeth Castle, Green Island and the south-east coast of Jersey in the past four weeks.
Four people trapped by the rising tide were rescued on Thursday.
Jersey has one of the largest tidal ranges in the world, more than 12m (39ft) on spring tides, said coastguards.
On the south-east coast the incoming tide moves extremely fast and can resemble a fast-flowing white water rapid, they said.
"The figures so far this year are worrying," said coastguard Dan Downey.
"We want people to take a little more care and prepare themselves before heading to the coastal areas."
