Keele University opens punk photography display

An exhibition tracing the punk era through photography has been opened at a university.

The display at Keele was launched by former member of the Sex Pistols, Glen Matlock, and features work from a range of rock photographers.

The aim of the collection is to "recapture the spirit of punk and give it context," said the university.

"Punk: from Andy Warhol to Vivienne Westwood" is on until 20 December.

The display has been curated by Stephen Colegrave, who co-authored a book called PUNK

"This unique exhibition captures an incredible time in recent history that stemmed from a passion for music but then influenced fashion, society and culture," said Prof Bela Arora.

The display is described by the university as a "visual journey of punk, the last counter-cultural movement."

The free exhibition is open until 20 December in the university's Chancellor's building.
