Kettering woman found dead after 'reports of disorder'

Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene in Kettering on Monday evening

A woman has died following "reports of disorder", police said.

The 37-year-old died in Russell Street, Kettering, Northamptonshire, at about 18:20 BST on Monday.

Paramedics from East Midlands Ambulance Service pronounced her dead at the scene.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of her murder. He is being questioned by Northamptonshire Police, who have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.

A second man, aged 42, has since been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm in connection with an assault on a 33-year-old man, which is alleged to have happened prior to the woman's death.

Det Ch Insp Joe Banfield said: "There were a lot of people who witnessed this incident last night from start to finish, so we are currently prioritising getting their accounts of what happened in order to build a picture of what exactly went on here."

A post-mortem examination of the deceased is expected to take place later.
