Kirklees welcome sign faces wrong way, council admits
Abigail Marlow/LDRSA sign welcoming people to part of West Yorkshire has been mistakenly put up facing the wrong way, instead greeting people to the neighbouring borough.
The "Welcome to Kirklees" sign on Halifax Road, Cleckheaton, was erected on the wrong side of the road at the point where motorists enter Calderdale.
A sign just feet away on the same side of the road reads "Welcome to Bailiff Bridge", which is in Calderdale.
Kirklees Council said the contractor responsible would correct the mistake.
Masood Ahmed, Kirklees Council's cabinet member for housing and highways, told the Local Democracy Reporting Service: "The Kirklees sign was put up by the contractor who operates the sponsorship contract.
"The agency is looking to change this round as soon as possible."
