A body has been found inside a house after it was engulfed in a fire.

Firefighters tackled the blaze at the single storey property on the Isle of Wight overnight, but police said on Thursday that a body had been found.

The fire broke out in the detached house in Porchfield at about 20:30 GMT on Wednesday.

Hampshire Constabulary said the death was not currently being treated as suspicious, and efforts to contact the next of kin were continuing.

An Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said investigations into the cause of the fire were under way.
