A lorry driver has been arrested after a cyclist was killed in a crash outside a hospital.

The woman, in her 20s, was struck by the lorry near Addenbrooke's Hospital, in Cambridge, just before 08:00 BST.

The 27-year-old lorry driver, from Hertford, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving.

He has been taken to Huntingdon police station. Officers have appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage.

The junction of the A1307 and Fendon Road was shut for several hours but has since reported, police said.

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has advised those travelling to the hospital to "allow extra time for your journey".
