Biker dies on M6 after collision with lorry
BBCAn 82-year-old man has died on the M6 following a collision between a lorry and a motorbike.
Emergency services were called to the southbound carriageway near Walsall between junctions 10 and 9 on Monday shortly after 14:00 GMT.
A motorcyclist was found in a critical condition, said West Midlands Ambulance Service, and died at the scene.
The lorry driver was uninjured in the crash.
West Midlands Police said the rider's family was being supported by specialist officers.
"We would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding around the closure of the M6 yesterday whilst we carried out vital examinations of the scene," said Det Sgt Paul Hughes.
"Our enquiries are continuing to establish the exact circumstances and we'd ask anyone with dash cam, or who was a witness, and who we've not yet been in contact with, to get in touch," he added.
The motorway was closed for several hours by accident investigators but reopened to traffic at about 19:00 GMT.
