Newspaper headlines: 'Tories in peril', and PM's 'bare-faced cheek'

PA MediaThe issue of record numbers of migrants crossing the English Channel risks putting the Conservatives "in peril", warns the Sunday Telegraph.
A poll for the paper suggests 77% of the party's voters believe the Tories' approach has been "too soft".
More than 24,000 migrants have reached the UK so far this year, nearly treble the total for 2020.
The Sunday Telegraph quotes an unnamed prominent party donor saying that immigration could "destroy" them.
The Observer focuses on another predicament for the prime minister - suggesting Boris Johnson has been told to dump his plan for care charges or face a Tory rebellion.
The paper says he could be forced into making a "humiliating U-turn".
The government has updated its plans in a way which means the financial help poorer people in England receive towards their care will not count towards a new £86,000 cap on costs.
A new photo of Mr Johnson on a crowded train - without a face-covering - appears on the cover of the Sunday Mirror, under the headline "bare-faced cheek of Boris".
The paper laments that the prime minister was maskless while the "pandemic's still raging".
Its opinion column argues that "we need a leader we can look towards, who shows us the right thing to do".
But the Sunday Express disagrees, declaring that: "Boris is still a winner."
It says despite what it calls a "disastrous fortnight", loyal red wall Tory MPs are still backing Mr Johnson to lead them into the next election.
EPATurning to the UK's handling of the pandemic, the Sunday Times reports that Health Secretary Sajid Javid has ordered a review of racial bias in medical devices because of concerns that thousands of ethnic minority patients died of Covid when they could have survived.
Research suggests oximeters, which are clipped to a person's finger, can overstate the level of oxygen in the blood of people from some ethnic groups.
A study found that 12% of black patients who were given a safe reading were actually in the dangerous range.
Writing in paper Mr Javid said: "One of the founding principles of our NHS is equality, and the possibility that a bias - even an inadvertent one - could lead to a poorer health outcome is totally unacceptable."

The Mail on Sunday claims that members of the Royal Family are "at war" with the BBC over a documentary due to be broadcast tomorrow.
The Mail says the Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Cambridge are "furious" that the BBC has reportedly not shown the programme - The Princes and the Press - to Buckingham Palace officials before it airs.
And the Daily Star Sunday says low salt reserves and a shortage of gritter drivers this winter does not bode well for Britain's roads. Snow is reportedly due to fall later this week.
