Storm-damaged trees in Jersey bay to be removed

Trees from a beach in Jersey are being removed due to storm damage and concerns for safety, officials say.

Storm Ciarán battered Jersey with strong winds and rain in November, and caused trees to fall - blocking roads, footpaths and causing three parks to close.

The government said a risk assessment had determined that a "small number of trees" on the lower slopes of Le Grouin in St Brelade's Bay could fall onto the beach below.

Work by the Infrastructure and Environment Department was using a digger on the beach to drag the trees from the slope to the beach for removal, it added.
