Views sought on hospital dementia care
PA MediaIslanders have been asked to share their experiences and thoughts on care for patients with dementia in hospital.
A Hospital Dementia Charter is being created that will set out what people with dementia, their family or care-partners, can expect when they are at Jersey General Hospital.
Dementia Jersey is looking for carers whose family member or friend with dementia has had care at the hospital in the last couple of years. This include attending the out-patient department, the emergency department and in-patient admission.
The charity said the insights would help the team learn, improve, and create a charter that fully supports people with dementia and those who care for them.
There are three ways to get involved, joining a small discussion group, meeting in person with the hospital team or to book a short telephone call.
Dementia Jersey estimates there are 1,600 people living with dementia in Jersey.
The island's first dementia strategy was published in June 2024 with the aim of improving care in the island.
