The winner of a £1,000 bursary said the money went towards a "truly incredible" adventure on the high seas.

Jamie Le Marquand, 17, won last year's Jersey Clipper Bursary and to took part in the Tall Ships Race on the leg from Scotland to Norway on the fishing boat Excelsior.

He said it was a "truly incredible experience with people coming from all over the globe for the same reason - to sail".

The bursary is awarded each year to an islander to help them undertake some form of maritime endeavour and people have been urged to apply again this year.
