'Career criminal' brothers jailed for burglaries
Leicestershire PoliceTwo brothers described by police as "career criminals" who targeted homes across the East Midlands and Wales have been jailed.
Leicestershire Police said Danny Casey was linked to scores of burglaries between October 2024 and January 2025, while his younger sibling Terrence Casey was linked to incidents in January and February 2025.
The force said officers identified that either one of, or both the brothers could be linked to a total of 37 offences.
Danny Casey, 34, of Meynells Gorse, Leicester was jailed for nine years and four months at Leicester Crown Court on Tuesday while Terrence Casey, 26, of Meynells Gorse, Leicester was sentenced to three years and six months in prison.
At the same hearing they were also handed serious crime prevention orders.
The first offences committed by Danny Casey were in October 2024 when four properties - two in Birstall, one in Loughborough and one in Mountsorrel – were burgled, police said, with a Toyota Yaris and jewellery among the items taken.
Over the following days, Danny Casey targeted homes in Leicester, Oadby, Whetstone and Hinckley, police added.
In January 2025, officers said the pair carried out burglaries in Lincolnshire, before moving to Wales and breaking into properties in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire .
They then stole from three properties in Cotgrave and one address in Newark.
'Overwhelming' evidence
The pair were due to stand trial on 11 November when Danny Casey pleaded guilty to three counts of conspiracy to burgle and two counts of breaching a serious Crime Prevention Order.
Terrence Casey admitted two counts of conspiracy to burgle.
Det Insp Ed Prowse said: "The brothers are career criminals who simply don't care about the harm they've caused to the general public.
"Their crimes were committed simply for nothing more than their own financial gain. They've admitted their guilt because the evidence against them was overwhelming. They knew they had no option to plead guilty.
"We know just how much impact being a victim of burglary can have on people and the feeling a stranger has entered your home and taken your possessions is something no-one should have to go through."
