A man in his 30s was taken to hospital after being stabbed in the head and neck

Armed police are searching for a knifeman after a man in his 30s was stabbed in the head and neck in Liverpool.

Merseyside Police said the attack happened in Erskine Street in the Kensington area of the city at about 15:00 GMT.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The force has sealed off an area in Liverpool city centre around Prospect Street and has appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
