Royal Estate given the go-ahead for slurry lagoon
ELG PlanningPlans for a slurry lagoon for waste produced by cows on the Royal Estate in Norfolk have been approved.
Sandringham Farms, at West Newton, near King's Lynn, had applied to build a reservoir to hold nearly 10,000 cubic metres of organic fertiliser.
The estate said the facility, on Icknield Way, would sit within 2,700 hectares of arable and livestock land.
The proposal has been approved by the Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk.
Flitcham Parish Council had raised concerns about the lagoon being too close to the village.
A public meeting was held in the village in December, where the land agent, the farm manager and an environmental adviser answered questions.
Two letters in support of the project were received by the borough council and there were 16 objections, listing concerns about the smell, the environmental impact and the traffic impact.
