Sweet-toothed shoplifter jailed after thefts
Nottinghamshire PoliceA sweet-toothed shoplifter who repeatedly breached his ban from numerous stores has been jailed.
Aaron Kelly, 36, was banned from a number of shops in the south of Nottingham and West Bridgford in November 2024, Nottinghamshire Police said.
However, in October and November of this year, Kelly flouted the court orders, snatching sweets, chocolates and other items on a number of occasions.
Kelly, of Eddleston Drive in Nottingham, was jailed on Monday for 52 weeks after pleading guilty to 16 counts of shoplifting, 11 breaches of a criminal behaviour order and threatening behaviour.
Nottinghamshire PoliceHe had also admitted possession of heroin and two counts of possession of a Class B drug.
Insp Steve Dalby said Kelly "tormented shop staff through his relentless offending".
He added: "Support is offered to shoplifters to help them break their cycle of offending.
"However, if they don't engage and continue to brazenly steal and cause issues for shop staff, we will keep on locking them up."
