The new CEO of a national park says he is "delighted" to take up the role.

Greg Morel, who has joined Jersey National Park, said it "represents the most treasured parts of our island, places that define who we are".

Morel, who was born and educated in Jersey, has more than two decades of experience in environmental governance, marine resource management and government policy delivery.

As CEO, he will lead the next phase of the park's development, including enhancing conservation programmes and strengthening partnerships.

Morel said: "I am delighted to join the park to work alongside the board, partners and community to help secure its future.

"I look forward to ensuring the park is more visible, understood and actively enjoyed, while strengthening the protections that will sustain Jersey for generations to come."

Chair of the park, Jim Hopley MBE, said: "Greg joins us at a critical time, as the park develops its formal role, scales up delivery across our programmes and strengthens its position as it moves into its second decade.

"His appointment brings the leadership, environmental experience and island knowledge required to take the organisation forward.

"He will play a central role in our next phase, and we welcome the skills and direction he will bring."
