Homelessness service busy during freezing nights

Shropshire Council said it had also accommodated 11 people who were at risk because of the freezing conditions.
Its homelessness team was on duty "all hours of the day, every day of the year," it said and had received 35 calls outside of the office hours over the Christmas period.
James Owen, the councillor responsible for housing, said its staff had gone "above and beyond," in providing care and support.
The council said its outreach team had also maintained regular contact with rough sleepers, providing welfare checks, essential supplies, and health services, plus help in accessing accommodation.
