Hollywood actor Luke Evans has been spotted filming scenes for an upcoming new drama across south Wales.

The Party, a five-episode ITV series based on the book of the same name, will see the Welsh actor play journalist Martin Gilmour.

"From the moment I read Elizabeth Day's novel, I knew it had the makings of something truly special for television," Evans said.

The cast and crew have been seen filming at multiple locations, including a park and bars in Cardiff and Rhondda Cynon Taf, since October 2025.

The thriller will move between the birthday party of politician Ben Fitzmaurice, played by Welsh actor Tom Cullen, and the police investigation that follows.

Across five episodes, it will also explore the relationship between Gilmour and Fitzmaurice, since they first met as students at a private school.

The series began shooting in Wales in late 2025, with the Beauty and the Beast actor spotted filming scenes in Cardiff's Roath Park and at a bar on Mill Lane in the city centre.

The show has also been filmed in nearby Rhondda Cynon Taf at Llanharan House, a Grade II-listed Georgian mansion.

Evans has also been seen enjoying downtime between filming in south Wales, visiting nearby Barry Island, in the Vale of Glamorgan.

It is set to be a busy year for Evans, as he also prepares to make his Broadway debut in a revival of The Rocky Horror Picture Show musical, opening in March.

Speaking previously about his latest project, Evans said The Party was a "gripping exploration of loyalty, class, and the truths we hide".

"I can't wait for audiences to experience it," he added.

Evans is also the series' executive producer, alongside author Elizabeth Day.

This isn't the first time the pair have worked together, as Evans previously appeared on an episode of her How To Fail podcast.

Day said: "I am so thrilled to see this wonderful adaptation of my novel, The Party, come to our screens.

"It's unbelievably exciting to witness my characters and the imagined world they inhabit evolving into this compelling, new creative iteration."

Aberystwyth-born Tom Cullen will star as politician Ben Fitzmaurice in The Party

Cullen, who hails from Aberystwyth, is best known for his role in Downton Abbey as Lord Gillingham - love interest of leading character Lady Mary Crawley, played by Michelle Dockery.

Also appearing in the five-episode thriller will be Joanna Scanlon, Sarah Solemani and Douglas Hodge.

There has been no announcement about when the show will air on ITV and ITVX.
