Motorcyclist dies and passenger injured in crash

A motorcyclist has died and his female passenger has suffered life-changing injuries in a collision with a car, police have said.

Officers were called at shortly after 15:00 BST on Monday to Briddlesford Road near Newport, Isle of Wight.

The rider, a 58-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene near Briddlesford Lodge Farm. His 53-year-old pillion passenger was taken to hospital.

Police have appealed for witnesses and footage of the Kawasaki motorcycle and the Ford Kuga that crashed.
