Critical incident stood down at Nottingham hospitals

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) has stood down the critical incident that was previously declared across the organisation.

NUH, which runs both the Queen's Medical Centre and City Hospital, said the critical incident had been removed at 14:52 GMT on Thursday.

Following particular pressure to its emergency department, NUH said operational performance had improved and its new electronic patient record system, which had issues, is now operational.

The trust said it still had "more work to do", adding its sites remained "very busy".

The critical incident was first put in place just after 16:00 GMT on Tuesday.

NUH has called on anyone due to collect loved ones who were being discharged from hospital to do so as early as possible.

"Please carefully consider whether you need to attend A&E, only attending in an emergency", the trust added.
